THE MEANING OF LIFE - JOURNEY

Who am I and what am I doing here? For thousands of years, men and women have pondered the meaning of life and their place in the cosmos. Whole civilizations were born, grew up, and died around their answers to these questions. From the ancient Egyptians through the Industrial Revolution, from Romeo and Juliet to you and me, each person and each society defines for itself what is important, and hence how to put order to life and resources.

Context is everything. Imagine the commitment of time and energy necessary to build the pyramids. Did the Egyptians (or their captives) gladly march to Cheops, eager contributors to their Pharaoh's immortality, or were they coerced, baking miserably in the Saharan Sun? For one, each day is slavery, while another exalts in the culmination of a life's dream.

What about you? What is important in your life? How well do you know your context? The same way that on a macro-scale it is the governing ethos that defines a civilization, on a micro-scale, it is your Life Purpose that defines what is significant.

Knowing your Life Purpose makes clear the core issues of your existence, sheds new light on the key events and people in your life, and brings a new understanding to current circumstances.

Look around you. A new world view is emerging, and with it, a new definition of what is important. Like all preceding world views, from Cleopatra's to Newton's, our current version, advanced though it may be, has been found confining and incomplete; confining in that too many people work at jobs with little or no satisfaction; incomplete in that it has disregarded humanity's universal need to contribute to something greater than ourselves, to connect to our soul, our spirituality, and its expression point in each of us in the form of our Life Purpose.

Adapt or perish. Any country, company or person that cannot or will not adhere to this emerging reality is doomed. The Information Age will self destruct, stillborn, choking on a glut of lifeless data if it cannot add to the value of people's lives, help individuals define and manifest that which is really important, help all of us better connect to our spiritual center.

Like seeing the oak tree contained within the acorn, one's soul purpose can be seen in the wave energy imprint frozen in the form of our fingerprints five months prior to birth. An understanding of this Life Purpose map revolutionizes our understanding of who we are and therefore what is important. Through this redefinition, we can better participate in humanity's daunting task of recreating civilization in the twenty-first century.

Read on to find out more about your Life Purpose.

The journey of life begun
That fateful day I was born
My eyes opened up blissfully to the sun
My soul, heart and brain emerged as one
Behold my journey had begun!

This little child in time has grown
Yes! Time has flown, time has flown
A lot has been learnt on my very own

Life has been a mystifying journey
With every up and down
With tears and laughter
With hate and love
With stupidity and wisdom
With enemies and friends
But even in my journey of frustration
I have found a means of celebration
In my toilsome exploration to my fateful destination

Tick tock, the clock goes on
Minute by minute, then hourly
Month by month then yearly
Tick tock, and in my journey
I have searched, questioned and answered
Whilst walking painfully along many paths
Sometimes requesting protection
Seeking from above immunization
When hit by obstacles in locations

But I am still on this journey
Shaking hands with the sad and merry
My passion for life which was once raw
Is now confined within the Almighty’s law
For life's journey itself never ends
Once you have reached the end of each road
Uplifting off your entire cloggy load
Be it in a hot summer or a winter’s cold
Behold! A new journey will unfold.

India elects first woman president

National lawmakers and state legislatures have chosen Pratibha Patil as India's president, the first woman to hold the largely ceremonial post.

Patil, the 72-year-old candidate of the governing Congress party and its political allies, took nearly two-thirds of the vote Saturday to defeat incumbent Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, the 84-year-old candidate of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party, the election commission said.
The win by Patil, a lawyer and governor of the northwestern state of Rajasthan, was hailed as a victory for women in a country where gender discrimination is deep-rooted and widespread.

"It is a special moment for us women, and men of course, in our country because for the first time we have a woman being elected president of India," said Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, who hand-picked Patil and was one of the first to congratulate her.

Still, it's not clear how much Patil can or will do to improve the lives of her countrywomen.

While India has had several women in positions of power, most notably Indira Gandhi, who became prime minister in 1966, women still face hardships based on the view that they are a financial burden to their families.

Canon EOS 40D Information Leaked?

According to Digital Photography Blog, Canon mistakenly posted a blank page on their Hong Kong website that featured a EOS 40D header. The Digital Photography Blog site also mentioned that a Belgium retail website had the EOS 40D advertised with the following features; 10.1 MP CMOS sensor, 5fps, 30 JPEG image burst, Integrated Cleaning System, 2.5" LCD, Spot metering, and 9-point autofocus.
You can read more at DigitalPhotographyBlog but keep in mind that these are just rumors. I suspect that an official announcement is close at hand - though I have been wrong before. ....Read Complete Article

Unique Maldives to make photo installation with (National Art Gallery) NAG

09 July 2007, Male; The Maldivian photographers’ group on www.flickr.com, Unique Maldives is to make a photo installation in a public space in Male or on one of the surrounding islands. The opportunity to contribute photos to the installation will be open to all members of the group plus anyone who wishes to join the group. Contributors do not necessarily have to be Maldivian but the photos should reflect the theme/s of the exhibition.
The event is organized to compliment the Live Earth concert and its Maldivian component ‘Jamming for the Islands’. Initially planned to coincide with the concert, it has now been delayed until later July. The exact dates for the exhibition and the location of the installation and guidelines for contributors will be made available on the NAG website
www.artgallery.gov.mv and the Unique Maldives/Flickr website www.flickr.com/groups/uniquemaldives in the coming week. The themes of the installation will be based on the richness and diversity of the natural environment and geography of the Maldives, the vulnerability of the Maldivian archipelago to natural forces and environmental disasters and mankind’s impact on the earth’s environment, especially the effects of global warming and the sea-level rise on the Maldivian islands and their way of life. The final selection of images for the installation will also reflect a strong Maldivian context.

7 new wonders of the world chosen

The Great Wall of China, Rome's Colosseum, India's Taj Mahal and three architectural marvels from Latin America were among the new seven wonders of the world chosen in a global poll released on Saturday.

Jordan's Petra was the seventh winner. Peru's Machu Picchu, Brazil's Statue of Christ Redeemer and Mexico's Chichen Itza pyramid also made the cut.
About 100 million votes were cast by the Internet and cellphone text messages, said New7Wonders, the nonprofit organization that conducted the poll.
The seven beat out 14 other nominated landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower, Easter Island in the Pacific, the Statue of Liberty, the Acropolis, Russia's Kremlin and Australia's Sydney Opera House.
The pyramids of Giza, the only surviving structures from the original seven wonders of the ancient world, were assured of retaining their status in addition to the new seven after indignant Egyptian officials said it was a disgrace they had to compete.
The campaign to name new wonders was launched in 1999 by the Swiss adventurer Bernard Weber. Almost 200 nominations came in, and the list was narrowed to the 21 most-voted by the start of 2006. Organizers admit there was no foolproof way to prevent people from voting more than once for their favorite.
A Peruvian in national costume held up Macchu Piccu's award to the sky and bowed to the crowd with his hands clasped, eliciting one of the biggest cheers from the audience of 50,000 people at a soccer stadium in Portugal's capital, Lisbon.
Many jeered when the Statue of Liberty was announced as one of the candidates. Portugal was widely opposed to the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
Another Swiss adventurer, Bertrand Piccard, pilot of the first hot-air balloon to fly nonstop around the world, announced one of the winners — then launched into an appeal for people to combat climate change and stand up for human rights before being ushered off the stage.
The Colosseum, the Great Wall, Machu Picchu, the Taj Mahal and Petra had been among the leading candidates since January, while the Statue of Christ Redeemer received a surge in votes more recently.
The Statue of Liberty and Australia's Sydney Opera House were near the bottom of the list from the start.
Also among the losing candidates were Cambodia's Angkor, Spain's Alhambra, Turkey's Hagia Sophia, Japan's Kiyomizu Temple, Russia's Kremlin and St. Basil's Cathedral, Germany's Neuschwanstein Castle, Britain's Stonehenge and Mali's Timbuktu.
Weber's Switzerland-based foundation aims to promote cultural diversity by supporting, preserving and restoring monuments. It relies on private donations and revenue from selling broadcasting rights.
The U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, or UNESCO, keeps a list of World Heritage Sites, which now totals 851 monument. But the agency was not involved in Weber's project.
The traditional seven wonders were concentrated in the Mediterranean and Middle East. That list was derived from lists of marvels compiled by ancient Greek observers, the best known being Antipater of Sidon, a writer in the 2nd century B.C.
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, the Colossus of Rhodes and the Pharos lighthouse off Alexandria have all vanished.

What is happening on 07.07.07 ?

You will find out within the next 19 months. It's hot and maybe May is better. But it doesn't matter. I just look at you and nothing matters. Can I check my email now? I just want to check this website. Hey stop it. Not with the red rubbish. Let me check my email now, you get on my nerves.

Question: What is 07.07.07?
Answer: The perfect wedding date.
Just kidding. It’s also the date of
Live Earth, a series of live concerts around the world to raise awareness of global warming.
It’s like Live Aid’s younger brother.
It’s also Al Gore’s latest project. Formerly known as the person who lost a US Presidential Election, he is now the face of the crusade against global warming:

The “7″ in the dates also stands for the 7 continents where the various concerts will be held. Isn’t that cool?
As
Star Bamboo is a Green Label recipient, I got an email on what’s happening in Singapore from our friends over at Singapore Environment Council (SEC):
Dear Green Label members and SEC Friends
On 7th July Saturday at Merlion Park One Fullerton, there will be a LIVE EARTH Satellite Concert Screening. (
http://www.liveearth.org)
The screening will kick off in the morning (as Australia Sydney will be the first to start the ball rolling). We are pleased to have a big screen at One Fullerton to bring you the best from all over 7 continents. It is Free Admission.
The concert is set to feature over 100 headlining music acts, across all seven continents. Artists such as Madonna, Alicia Keys, The Smashing Pumpkins, Black Eyed Peas, Bon Jovi, Kylie Minogue, Snow Patrol and Jennifer Lopez are among the big names who will grace the show.
If you are attending, as a please bring your own tupperware for drinks and food, as concert shows always produces a lot of trash.
Reduce Waste First, followed by Recycling.
The Singapore Environmental Council will also be there.
